Lukoil Reopens For Business And Gives Away Free Gas

One of the busiest gas stations on the west end of the Rockaway peninsula reopened on Monday morning to the delight of Rockaway residents who have struggled to find gasoline ever since Hurricane Sandy. Lukoil, located at Beach 116 Street and Beach Channel Drive, gave away ten gallons of free gasoline to the first 25 customers once they cut the ribbon at 10 a.m. The station’s owner, Tolga Basmaci, thanked the hard work of the NYPD and the Office of Emergency Management for assisting him in getting back up and running as fast as he could. The adjoining oil change garage, Basmaci says is still not ready to open but anticipates they will be back in operation within the next few weeks.
