Turner updated those in attendance about Veterans related legislation.

“It gives me great pride to have this opportunity to speak to you today. It has been an honor to work on behalf of my fellow Veterans as a member of Congress and as a member of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs,” Turner told the crowd. Turner expressed his deep appreciation for and enumerated many of the sacrifices each and every soldier makes during his or her service and the debt of gratitude owed to them by the United States. After which Turner gave an overview of the legislation he has sponsored and helped pass to help Veterans with everything from job training to disability benefits. As well as the work his office has done to ensure receipt of these entitled benefits and commendations for service.

“Since taking office I have supported legislation that will help Veterans with their transition back to civilian life, find good paying jobs, and receive the healthcare they need and deserve,” he said. “Through these efforts, we have been able to accelerate many claims, which has resulted in Veterans receiving money they need and the care they deserve. I have had the great honor of awarding over 30 medals and commendations. Helping Veterans both in our district and across the nation has been very rewarding and I will continue to do so.”
