Tenth Rudden Tournament Ends In Exciting Finish
This past Saturday we celebrated Ryan Ruddens memory with the 10th annual Ryan Rudden Memorial Roller Hockey Tournament. After a brief weather delay, the tournament was able to get started with nine of the most competitive teams that’s ever had.
There were three local teams, one from Marist College, the Junior Metro Moose, Junior Bobcats, two from Brooklyn and the Metro <oose alumni. New York City Councilman Eric Ulrich and Ryan Steiner each dropped the ceremonial first puck.
After all the round robin games were completed, the tournament final was played between the Junior Bobcats, led by Pat Schule and John Schiavo and the Moose Alumni, led by Big game Dave Ramos and Sean mcCallister. The Moose won the first game in dramatic fashion in overtime. Due to the darkness, the tournament completed the next day when the Moose won the final game in a shoot out.
It was a great tournament to honor a great kid. Special thanks to Pat Grottano on the grill, Brownie and Kid Shea for refereeing, Danny of Boardwalk Bagel ,Tom and Ellen of The Blackwater Pub, Mikey Blingz 265 entertainment for being the DJ, Bryanne Flaherty and of course the Rudden and Steiner families. We will see everyone next year for the eleventh annual no. 11.
