Margaret Keating, 99, a lifelong Rockaway resident, died October 12.
Keating was born in Manhattan, New York. She was president of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Francis de Sales Church, member of St. Joseph’s Alumni Association in Brentwood, president of the Catholic Women of the Brooklyn Diocese and deputy grand marshal of the 1999 Rockaway St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Keating was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas F.; sons, Thomas F. Keating III and James Thomas Keating; brothers, John O’Brien Clarke, Gerald Vincent Clarke and Robert Clarke.
She is survived by her children, Bobby Keating (Judy), Meg Flaherty (the late Billy), Ed Keating (Joan), Johnnie Keating, Mary Anne Mazzucco (Gary), Betty Keating and Marty Keating; daughter-in-law, Trudy Keating; grandchildren, Judy Keating, Sean Keating, Brian Keating, Michael Keating, Timm Keating, Kelly Stapleton (John), Meghan Kovacs (Tom), Thomas Francis Keating IV, Kevin Flaherty (Gloria), TJ Flaherty (Melissa), Bryanne Flaherty, Donovan Thomas Keating, Gabrielle Marie Keating, Jen Anderson (Darren) and Dan Mazzucco (Betsy); 15 greatgrandchildren; and eight Clarke nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Rockaway Beach. A funeral mass took place at St. Francis de Sales Church, Belle Harbor.
