In Response To “The Unborn”
I recently read a letter in your paper that interested me, entitled, “The Unborn.” I, too, am not in favor of abortion, but in some cases, families (particularly ones raised by single women) and young people who cannot and should not go through a pregnancy, need this option.
The Republican Party likes to be known as the party supporting less government intervention, and yet they are fixated on being pro-life, neverminding their fixation with suppressing gun legislation. What is most troubling is their neglect to abide to being pro-life after the baby is born – the Republicans are all about cutting all sorts of social services that would help a woman and her “new child.” Day care centers and head start programs would be out of the table, as well as medical care and safe housing. So much for loving life!
The mother and child would most likely be villainized as part of a percentage of people who are not helping the American economy, an idea I recently read about in the editorial column of a local newspaper.
