Zelliar Rhem

Domestic Worker

Zelliar Rhem, a longtime Rockaway resident, died September 28.

Rhem was born in Kittrell, South Carolina. She was a Rockaway resident for more than 40 years and was a domestic worker. Rhem was a member of St. John’s Baptist Church.

Rhem was preceded in death by her siblings, Maybelle Perry, Ressie Perry Jr., Elsie Crudup and John Hunter.

She is survived by her grandniece and primary caregiver, Zelliar Denise Stewart (James); sister-in-law, Mary Perry; nieces, Zelliar Mae Hammond; Jeraline Alston, Vikki Crudup, Cheryl Hunter- Grant (Lawrence), Lori Hunter and Monique Hunter; nephews, Lonnie Nelson, Billy Perry, John Jeffrey Hunter, Keith Perry (Cynthia) and Andre Perry; grandniece, Barbara Baker; grandnephew, Thomas Hammond; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. A funeral mass took place at St. John’s Baptist Church, Far Rockaway. Interment followed at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York.
