My Compliments

Dear Editor,

There are many Rockaway topics of frustration to write The Wave about but being an eternal optimist I simply refrain from the negative. This week, with a compliment to share, I finally decided to write.

I’d like to thank Allen, the customer service manager at Walbaum’s, for assisting with a cash back problem this week and for always helping me with the little issues that come up in the store. He truly understands the meaning of “service-with-a-smile” and he’s eager to go the extra mile for his customers. There are others in the store such as the ever-pleasant fish monger, the articulate and cheerful cashier named Susan, the other female customer service rep whom I’ve complimented directly on many occasions (her name escapes me), the wonderful meat department staff and so many more. Overall the service at the store has greatly improved since I first moved to the Rockaways 13 years ago and the few workers who aren’t happy to be there are overshadowed by the great staff.

We don’t have many shopping choices on the west end of the peninsula but at least we have a nice supermarket.
