Turner To Sponsor Veterans Town Hall

Congressman Bob Turner is hosting a Veterans Town Hall to directly communicate with and inform veterans about benefit related issues.

Turner, a veteran himself, serves on the House Committee on Veterans Affairs and has worked to provide rightful benefits to our nation’s veterans and provide them the honors they have earned. “Our nation’s veterans are our heroes, plain and simple. They have sacrificed a great deal on this nation’s behalf and it is the least we can do to help make them be aware of and receive the benefits they have earned,” Turner said. The event will include information about legislation Congressman Turner has supported and helped pass to benefit veterans. Featured will be several speakers including Assemblyman Mike Miller, Commissioner of Veterans Affairs Terrance Holiday from the Mayor’s office, Edward Perry of the Veterans Administration, Steve Gonzales of the American Legion, and John Rowan of the Vietnam Veterans of America. Topics covered will include applying for benefits, claims, service commendations and awards, as well as updates from all agencies present.

“Our veterans qualify for a vast array of services and benefits. Many of them are unaware of programs and agencies at their disposal. This forum will serve as a one stop shop to update these veterans about the services and agencies available to them to move their lives forward after returning home,” Turner said.

The town hall will take place on Wednesday, October 24, at 7:00 p.m. at American Legion Post 1424 located at 107-15 Metropolitan Avenue, Forest Hills, Queens.
