Shamrocks Battle To Draw With Glen Cove

The BCAC Peanut Shamrocks traveled to Glen Cove to take on the Cardinals last Sunday. The Shamrocks won the coin toss and elected to receive. The offense took the field led by QB Aidan Leary, OL Joseph Parsley, Hayden Malsy, Casey Allen, Logan Kalisak and the backfield of Lukas Weiss, Matt Stack, Matty Martin, Frankie Sinisgalli and Joseph Esposito.

Matt Stack made a nice cutback on a 23 dive and ran 40 yards for a touchdown and an early 6-0 Shamrock lead. The Shamrock defensive line of Logan Hilgendorf, Dean Esposito, James Arena, Tommy Martin, Mike Borhi, Sinisgalli and LB’s J. Esposito, M. Martin, Weiss, Stack and James Ferchland were ready for the Cardinal offense. The Cardinals didn’t waste any time and scored to tie the game 6-6.

Weiss, Sinisgalli and Esposito made some nice runs on the Shamrock second offensive series leading to Matty Martin breaking 2 tackles and bolting 16 yards for his first touchdown of the season and a 12-6 Shamrock lead. The Cardinals would come right back to score and tie the game 12-12. The Shamrock defense came up with a big stop early in the third quarter stopping the Cardinals on the Shamrock 25-yard line. Stack, Weiss, M. Martin and Borhi came up with big tackles.

The Shamrock offense tried to take the lead and had a first and goal from the Cardinal 7-yard line but couldn’t punch it in. The game came down to the Shamrock defense ready to make another stop. The Cardinals marched to the Shamrock 15-yard line but Weiss, Martin, Stack and Sinisgalli would deny the Cardinals, to keep the game tied.

The Shamrocks had 15 seconds left and turned to Weiss who ran eight yards and almost broke through to take the lead but the clock expired. The Peanut Shamrocks played another tough road game; congratulations to all of the kids who never quit and kept playing hard for 60 minutes. Offensive rushing leaders included: Stack (40, TD), Weiss (31), M. Martin (23, TD), Sinisgalli (13), J. Esposito (13), Leary (12). Defensive leaders included (tackles): Weiss (4), Sinisgalli (4), M.
