Rockaway Rugby Continues Winning Streak

By Alan Shaw

Rockaway Fisheads celebrate a win in Bayonne, New Jersey. Rockaway Fisheads celebrate a win in Bayonne, New Jersey. Rockaway Fisheads are rolling. The team went into Bayonne over the weekend and came away with another win. This puts the squad at 3-1 and in position to attain a playoff birth.

The game started slowly and the Fisheads found themselves down 0-3 before a few goal line stands sparked the Fisheads and the team never looked back. Game ball goes to TJ Mahoney, who recorded a record high in tackles and is now looking for sponsorship deals for his headband.

Another standout on the team was the legendary Mike the Russian, age unknown, but his skill level still that of a young 30s.

When asked for comment, Mike stated something no one could make out. Pat O’Grady, looking for Wave fame, decided to stiff arm a Bayonne forward straight to the ground and continue through a few more players. This weekend, the team has the biggest game of the year against their top rival, Montauk, at home. Game time is 1 p.m. at Fort Tilden. Come out and support the team.

The Fisheads are happy to provide fans with a bus to Long Beach Irish fair, dropping off at the famous Cabana. Bus will be leaving Fort Tilden after the rugby match.

Rockaway Rugby invites all of the fans in attendance to join them at the Cabana for a great time.

The following Saturday, October 13 will be Family Day with the Fisheads. Following the 1 p.m. game at Fort Tilden, there will be games and a barbecue. The team looks forward to seeing you out on the pitch. For any information please like their Facebook page at Fisheads Rugby or check them out at Rockawayrugby.com.
