Kosmos Eris Soccer Girls Shut Out Plainview

The newly organized boys’ U9 Kosmos Achilles soccer team is working hard to find a win. Sunday’s game against the NY Super Stars was one to watch.

In the first few moments of the game, forward Jack Ryan and striker Tommy Davey swiftly drove up the field for great field position. Davey had a strong shot toward goal just tipping the goalpost and missing. Bobby Dalton was on the ball with some impeccable skills as forward and some strong stops in defense.

New additions to the Kosmos, Freddy Teich, Chris Tennyson and Aiden Keane, have each stepped up their game. Keane had a great defensive kick under pressure in the second half. The defense truly played their hearts out in this game. Luca Perrotta had a tight hold on middle defense.

Owen Ryan had no problems charging the ball and making many strong stops on the defense as well. Joseph Grillo had a stellar game by always finding the ball and showcased his great ball handling skills making the NY Super Stars work. Grillo also made an amazing stop at goal. The team would like to congratulate Charlie Degrechie on his debut as goalie. Degrechie was quick on his feet with amazing catches and even a dive. The boys held the game to a 0-0 tie.

The Kosmos Eris U11 girls traveled to Soccer Park in Plainview with the confidence, ability and determination to add another win to their record. Great control was displayed from Nikki Cimino, moving the ball to Emma Davey who centered from the right into the middle. That allowed Sophia Edri to take an amazing shot on goal, giving Eris a 1-0 lead. Julia Necka- Huptysiowska, who used her speed to out-play the defender, leading to the team’s second goal.

Kristen Green used her speed, control and made a spectacular pass giving Grace Butler a chance for a perfect shot over the outstretched arms of their goalkeeper. Starting the second half with a 3-0 lead did not slow the team up. These goal hungry girls came out ready to score. With Coach Herve coaching them to make their passes, Annalise O’Leary received a pass from Katie Savastano and dribbled down the right side, then took a corner shot past the goalie.

Chloe Murphy pulled their defensive players out of positions and passed the ball to Kaylie Walsh in the middle so she zeroed in on the goal and fired a strike giving the team a 5-0 lead. Butler, not satisfied with one goal, took another shot squeezing it along the goal posts. Maeve Murman and Kelly Erhard not only played an exception goalkeeping throughout the game, not giving up any goals. The game ended with a 6-0 win, putting Eris in the top five of their division.

Kosmos’ Nikh GU11 spent the morning at Soccer Park against the North Shore Strikers. Nikh came to the field with only eight (8) players/no subs so both teams agreed to play a fantastic 9 vs. 9 game; Nikh finished with a 1-1 draw and displayed great soccer!
