High School Roundup: Channel,Scholars’Remain Undefeated

Maria Gomez had 6 service points and 6 assists, and Desiree Combs recorded 8 service points to help Beach Channel/ Channel View win 2-0 (25-23, 25-18) over John Bowne in a volleyball match on Monday afternoon. The Dolphins improved to 3-0 on the season in the PSAL Class ‘B’ Queens Southeast division.

Celeste Lynch and Paris Hanson each recorded 10 service points, and Megan Lacoganta had 6 kills to power Scholars’ Academy to a 2-0 (25-8, 25-10) win over Far Rockaway Educational Campus (0-4). The Seawolves improved to 3-0 and take on Beach Channel/Channel View in a game to be held on Tuesday afternoon, 5:30 p.m., at Far Rockaway High School. Girls Soccer: Sophomore midfielder Hunter Hennessey scored her ninth goal of the season to help Beach Channel/ Channel View record a 1-0 win over Richmond Hill in a game held at Victory Field in Forest Park on Tuesday. The Lady Dolphins (5-0) remain first in the Queens ‘B’ VI division. Boys Soccer: Jorge Obregon scored the only goal for the Dolphins from an assist by Alexis Bustillo in the first half to give Beach Channel/Channel View a 1-0 win a Springfield Gardens on Monday. Beach Channel improved to 6-2, and will host Far Rockaway (2-4) in the second peninsula matchup this season in the PSAL Queens ‘BI’ division today at 4 p.m. The Seahorses fell 3-1 to Jamaica on Monday afternoon with Ruel Riddle scoring the only goal. Football: Evander Childs raced out to a 40-6 lead at halftime to cruise to a 40-18 home win over Far Rockaway Educational Campus on Saturday in the Bronx. Romello White rushed for 102 yards and scored a touchdown for the Seahorses (1-3) in a PSAL Cup division game. The Seahorses will have their Homecoming Day today versus Franklin K. Lane at 4 p.m.

Beach Channel (1-3) was routed last Saturday in a 40-0 defeat to Curtis in Staten Island. The Dolphins lost wide receiver Khalil Mitchell for the entire season to a broken tibia in his right leg, which occurred on a play late in the second quarter. The Dolphins hosts 0-4 Lehman on Sunday at 12 p.m.
