Upcoming NYCB Theater At Westbury Events
Live Nation will present Asia at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury on Friday, October 19 at 8 p.m. Thirty years after their eponymous debut album, the original Asia has proven to be one of the most enduring super groups of the rock era. Hailing from such major rock acts as King Crimson, Yes, The Buggles and Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Asia’s first album was released in March of 1982 and sold more than seven million copies. The album featured “Heat of the Moment,” “Only Time Will Tell,” “Sole Survivor,” and “Wildest Dreams” and Asia became one of the most viewed bands on MTV. The original group, consisting of vocalist and bassist John Wetton, drummer Carl Palmer, keyboardist Geoff Downes, and guitarist Steve Howe reunited and released “Phoenix,” their first album together since 1983’s “Alpha.” The new album included the single “An Extraordinary Life.” With new found success, they released “Omega” in 2010 and just released “XXX,” featuring cover art by Roger Dean depicting a flying fish dragon, celebrating the Chinese year of the Water Dragon.
Roger Hodgson, the legendary voice of Supertramp, will appear on Friday, November 2, at 8 p.m. Roger Hodgson has been recognized as one of the most gifted composers, songwriters and lyricists of our time. As the legendary voice of Supertramp and composer of many of the band’s greatest hits, he gave us “Give a Little Bit,” “The Logical Song,” “Dreamer,” “Take the Long Way Home,” “Breakfast in America,” “It’s Raining Again,” “School,” “Fools Overture” and so many others that have become the soundtrack of our lives. Hodgson‘s trademark way of setting beautiful introspective lyrics to upbeat melodies resonated and found its way into the hearts and minds of people from cultures around the world. His songs have remarkably stood the test of time and earned him and Supertramp an adoring worldwide following.
