Kosmos Eris Team Holds On To Beat Plainedge

The Kosmos girls U11 Eris soccer team took the field with determination and played as a team coming out strong against the Plainedge Extreme.

All of their hard work and practice with coach Herve paid off because they made spectacular passes moving the ball with control and playing their positions. It was an amazing game to watch.

In the first half, Kristen Green made several amazing passes from her middle back position that gave the team the fighting ambition to play their aggressive game. Emma Davey headed many balls and had a couple of shots on goal. New team players Chloe Murphy and Kaylie Walsh took off on a fast break made by a high kick from Maeve Murman. It gave Walsh a great opportunity to shoot and score the first goal for Eris.

Phenomenal goalkeeping accomplished by Kelly Erhard, who saved many amazing shots, kept Eris in the lead. Starting the second half with a 1- 0 lead did not stop Eris from attacking.

Grace Butler, Annaliese O’Leary and Julia Necka-Huptysiowska used their dribbling skills to outplay the Plainedge team and attack their goal. But with that said, the stellar plays made by top defender Nikki Cimino, Victoria Catalano and Sofia Edri broke up many scoring chances attempted by the opposition. Eris walked away with their first win of the season and played their best game.

Apollo met the Manhattan Whitecaps on a windy Sunday. Manhattan was not used to the wind gusts of our peninsula.

The Apollo team was victorious again with a score of 6-2. Team Apollo had to fight the wind in the first half but found the back of the net twice before half time. Second half, the whitecaps scored 2 goals, but team Apollo answered back with 4 more.

The Whitecaps came up the field charging to even the score but they met a “wall”. That wall was John Johna Leahy who refused to let many attempts past him. If they did get past him, the goal keeping of Raphael Tawil let nothing by him.

Mid fielders Gabriel Tennyson and massimo Valentino did great jobs feeding the passes to forwards and The tireless work of Joe Butler brought this team to its win.
