BCAC Girls Pee-Wee Soccer Notches First Win
On Saturday the BCAC Pee Wee Shamrocks hosted St. Mel’s at Memorial Field. The girls came out strong with sustained offensive pressure by forwards Jasmine Hewitt and Victoria Rodriguez, which led to the first of two goals scored by Thais Torres. St. Mel’s came back strong scoring two of their own, despite the tenacious defensive play of captain Nicole Vega, Amanda Keller, and sweeper Peyton Kalisak.
As the second half played on, the Shamrocks were able to apply more offense. Midfielders Danielle Shea and Jackie Taly assisted on a pass to Taira Torres, who dazzled the defense and scored the game winner. Shamrock goaltender Josephine Payne came up with some saves late in the game to seal the win for the BCAC.
Sunday afternoon at the BCAC Memorial Field was all that you could ask for, beautiful weather and a great soccer game.
The Shamrock girls came out running, with attacks coming quickly by the Torres sisters, with help from Ashley Nieto that resulted in a penalty kick goal for Taira Torres.
With a one goal lead, the Shamrocks held off Blessed Trinity’s talented squad. Kimberly Kelliher, Madison Taravella, and Alyssa Nieto came off the bench to help shore up the defense. After a late game rush started by a pass from Brianna Dady to Victoria Rodriguez, Trinity was able to respond and tie the game. With only seconds left Trinity scored the game winner. BCAC Coach Tim Vega was very happy with the way the girls played this weekend. The team now stands at 1-3-1.
