What About The Unborn?

Dear Editor,

The Declaration of Independence grants us the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, yet every day in America over 3,000 unborn babies will be destroyed by abortion and at the end of a year over 1 million abortions will have taken place, depriving them of their right to life. Are there really that many women in a crisis pregnancy?

No. Over 40% of abortions were performed for birth control, according to a 20/20 report with Lynn Shaw, shown on May 24, 1991. The number is greater now with the introduction of RV486 and the morning after pill. (Life begins at conception, a scientific fact). Many abortions are also performed for reasons of convenience.

Let’s try to end these (birth control and convenience) abortions by education and legislation. Yes, there are hard cases, some very hard cases and as a society we have to reach out with every means possible to help these women in a true crisis pregnancy.

Many men and women are suffering physically, mentally and spiritually because of the choice they made to abort their baby.

I watched the Democratic Convention recently and listened to every speech. Just about every speaker spoke about protecting women’s rights, their right to choose, their reproductive health, etc. (Abortion is not healthcare).

The Democratic platform supports abortion, as do President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, ex-President Bill Clinton, Carolyn Kennedy and just about every Democrat politician in the U.S. They all support the killing of the unborn. Also, the speakers mentioned over and over their values. Is supporting abortion one of these values?

No one can have a right to kill. Roe v. Wade is a bad law and should be overturned. Since 1973 when the law was passed, over 53 million abortions have taken place. What is morally wrong cannot be politically correct.

Albert Schweitzer said, “Ethics, too, are nothing but reverence for life. That is what gives me the fundamental principle of morality namely, that good consists in maintaining, promoting, and enhancing life and that destroying, injuring and limiting life is evil.”

It seems the republican party

It seems the republican party is more pro birth than pro life. Once youre born your on your own. First let's clarify something. The morning after pill is not an abortion pill. It does one of two things. It prevents or delays ovulation Or it interferes with the fertilization of the egg itself. Either way it's just an aggressive form of birth control meaning the egg and sperm don't meet. Now based on your letter, I could surmise that you may be against birth control too. If so, that would be a shame. If you truly want to prevent abortions than you should support institutions like planned parenthood. This organization that has been demonized by the right wing primary purpose is to prevent unwanted pregnancies through education and distribution of low cost birth control. Many in this community are not educated on how easy it is to become pregnant. Planned parenthood is there to educate and prevent unwanted pregnancies. And finally supporting all of women's rights is indeed the values of the democratic party. I'll stand by that every day
