Nitty Gritty Comes To Westbury

Live Nation will present The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Asleep at the Wheel at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury on Friday, September 28 at 8 p.m.

The profoundly influential Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, often cited as a catalyst for an entire movement in Country Rock and American Roots Music, continues to add to their legendary status.

With multi-platinum and gold records, strings of top ten hits such as “Fishin’ in the Dark” and “Mr. Bojangles,“ multiple Grammy, IBMA, CMA Awards and nominations, the band’s accolades continue to accumulate. Their groundbreaking “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” album has been inducted into the U.S. Library of Congress as well as the Grammy Hall of Fame. NGDB’s recording of “Mr. Bojangles” was also inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2010. NGDB (Jeff Hanna, Jimmie Fadden, Bob Carpenter, John McEuen) are touring in support of their most recent release, the critically acclaimed album “Speed of Life.”

The Kings of Texas Swing and the nine time Grammy Award winning country music group, Asleep at the Wheel, will perform “Choo Choo Boogie,” “The Letter That Johnny Walker Read,” “Route 66,” “House of Blue Lights,” “Hot Rod Lincoln,” and many more of their iconic hits. Led by founder Ray Benson, Asleep at the Wheel recently collaborated with Willie Nelson for the 2009 Willie and the Wheel.
