Tillman Dickerson, a longtime Rockaway resident, died August 30.
Dickerson was born in Harlem, New York on September 24, 1947 and lived in Rockaway for more than 20 years.
Dickerson was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Nathaniel, Hezekizer, Cyrus and Thomas Dickerson; wife, Diane; granddaughter, Melissa; and the mother of his children, Irene Williams.
He is survived by his children, Dornita Bell (Billy Bell), Dorothy Rivera (George Rivera), Kenya Williams and Tillman Williams; grandchildren, Rashawn, Sha’Queena, Natarsita, Kenya, Billesha Billy Jr., Shabastin, Lil Shamel, Grt. Qua’Nae, Anye, Kaliyha, Monasia, Rajanay and Emani; sisters, Cecilia Mars and Aslee Dickerson; brothers, Billy, Allen and Stanley Dickerson; sisters-in-law, Bessie Dickerson, Cathy, Donna and Della Johnson; brother-in-law, Darryl Mars; goddaughter, Tersa Spell; adopted daughters, Renee Newborne and Bethedeline; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family, the Turner and Barnes families, David, Neicey and Aundey.
Funeral arrangements and service were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York.
