Patricia Ann McDermott
Patricia Ann McDermott, 69, a former Rockaway resident, died September 9.
McDermott was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 10, 1943. She was a 1963 graduate of Kings County Hospital Center School of Nursing in Brooklyn, New York and then received her B.S. degree at St. Francis College in 1979. She was the director of Nursing at Hyde Park Nursing Home from 1984 to 1996. She was also the DNS at Victory Lake from 1996 to 1997. Prior to relocating to Dutchess County she was a Belle Harbor resident and worked at Park Nursing Home for ten years. She was an elected Tax Collector for the town of Clinton since November 1999.
McDermott was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lillian Skelly.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph; daughter, Colleen McGarry; son, John McDermott; “daughter,” Dorothy Harrison-Locke; grandchildren, Kathryn, Colleen, Bryan and Jenna; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweet’s Funeral Home, Hyde Park, New York. A funeral mass will take place on Saturday, September 15, at 10 a.m. at Regina Coeli Parish, Hyde Park, New York. Interment will follow at Friends Cemetery, Clinton Corners, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kathryn McGarry fund to further research Klippel Trenaunay Syndrome, a rare birth defect of her oldest granddaughter.
