Sinbad Brings The Laughs ToWestbury

Sinbad will bring his brand of “clean” stand-up comedy to the NYCB Theatre at Westbury on Friday, September 21 at 8 p.m.

Actor and comedian Sinbad arrived on the comedy scene with a “hit’em in the face” style of comedy that has kept audiences laughing in the aisles over the past two decades. He freely admits that he doesn’t know any jokes, except for the ones that his dad told him “back in the day.” Sinbad tells stories, and boy does he tell stories! The basis of his humor comes from everyone he meets, everything he has seen, and everything he has done. Ranked by Comedy Central as one of the top 100 stand-up comedians of all time, Sinbad has built a loyal following by taking audiences’ painful trials or embarassing tribulations of day-by-day life, throwing them back in their faces, and causing an uproar of comedic hysteria. In 1987, Sinbad landed a role in A Different World, the Cosby Show spin-off starring Lisa Bonet. By 1993, he had landed his own sitcom on FOX TV, The Sinbad Show. He performed his first stand-up special for HBO in 1990. That breakthrough special, Brain Damaged, was followed by Afros & Bellbottoms in 1995, Son of a Preacher Man in 1996 and Nothin’ But the Funk in 1998. He has appeared in numerous films including Jingle All the Way, Houseguest and First Kid. His recent Comedy Central special, “Where U Been?” was released on DVD in 2010.
