Obama’s Victory Strategy

Dear Editor,

Obama’s strategy, negative campaigning, will ensure his victory in November.

He will distract us from his failures and broken promises. Weighty issues such as high unemployment, huge national debt and underfunded entitlement programs will receive very little attention or discussion.

Obama is extremely gifted in this technique by his training in dirty Chicago politics which propelled him to the U.S. Senate and Presidency. Romney has no chance. Obama himself, his surrogates and super-pac’s supporting him will lie and cheat to portray Romney as a rich capitalist out of touch with the common person. Obama’s lies will the minimized by the mainstream media and any gaffe by Romney will be exaggerated.

Negative campaigning will reward Obama with four more years but it will cheat U.S. citizens from a thorough discussion about real issues.

Funny, your letter is a great

Funny, your letter is a great example of "negative" campaigning. Instead of using facts to make your point good Dr. you chose to use ad hominems to disparage President Obama. The fact is, his campaign, while certainly negative in tone, is bar far more honest and less negative than Mr. Romney. The latest lie, that Obama has "Stolen" over 700 Million dollars from Medicare to pay for the Affordable Care Act is being repeated in advertisements fully endorsed by Mr. Romney. That lie has been debunked by independant news organizations, yet Mr. Romney keeps repeating them. There is a far greater Super Pac machine behind Romney as there is with Obama. The bulk of job losses happened during the final months of the Bush administration, and finally was stemmed a few months after Obama's policies took hold. Sure, it is still awful, but it took eight years of Bush to get us into this place ( two unpaid for wars, tax cuts for the wealthy and an unpaid for prescription drug program), so four years to get us to this place is not too bad. The idea that the "mainstream" media is to blame has been the meme of the right wing, fox news loving audience for years. Blame the candidate, not the messenger. Remember, this is the party that has called our president a socialist, secret muslim, American hating, foreign born demagogue. I think the mud has been slung at him far longer and greater than anyone on the right of the aisle
