The World Is Upside Down

Dear Editor,

Let me see if I got this right.

An art education program is part of the mission of a “recreation area” but youth sports leagues are not?

Only could government bureaucrats use such Orwellian logic.

It does not seem like a big deal until you realize the art program gets a nobid contact to use federal land for free but the kids have to pay to use (1) land tax dollars have already paid for and (2) fields the parents built and maintain with their own money.

Meanwhile the entire political establishment remains silent at this outrage.

So we have two problems: unelected bureaucrats who make crazy decisions that damage the quality of life; and stupid voters who elect politicians who lack the courage to stand up for what is right because it might hurt their political careers.

Now you know what is wrong with Rockaway.
