Burglar Busted Selling Swag
A Far Rockaway man who burglarized a home on Beach 73 Street was busted by police on August 2 when he was found trying to sell items from the home inside a Beach 90 Street tattoo parlor.
Court records supplied by Queens District Attorney Richard Brown show that Shahim Ivery, 31, was arrested by Police Officer Webster Banatte of the 100 Precinct at 90-15 Rockaway Beach Boulevard after he attempted to sell a flat screen television set and eyewitnesses called police.
Ivery, who lives on Birdsall Avenue, had allegedly been using a home at 347 Beach 73 Street as his cash cow, removing two flat screen television sets, two cell phones, a Playstation 3 with its controllers and about $980 in cash.
After the arrest, Ivery allegedly told detectives that he needed the money because he had nothing, blaming his lack of finances on his “history and drug problems.”
He told detectives that he could not find a job and that he was sorry for the people who he robbed.
Ivery, who police say has an extensive criminal record, was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court on August 3 on charges of burglary and criminal possession of stolen property.
He is being held on $150,000 bail pending his next court date, which is set for August 17.
