Clifford DeLoach died on July 24 at the age of 78.
DeLoach, who was born in Hardeeville, South Carolina, and served 33 years in the U.S. Air Force, rising to the rank of sergeant, before coming to Rockaway, where he lived for more than 25 years.
He was a regular at the JASA Senior Citizens Center in Rockaway.
After leaving the service, he worked for the United States Postal Service, and later became one of “New York’s Strongest,“ serving with the NYC Department of Sanitation.
DeLoach was preceded in death by his parents, Linda and Ozzie DeLoach and his son Ozzie.
He is survived by his fiancée, Deloris Henry; daughter, Lydia Horton(Darryl Sr.); sisters, Naomi Scott and Mary Reed; brothers, Joshua Woods and Haywood, Jr; sister-in-law Roslyn Siders; grandchildren, Latoya and Darryl Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jasir and Horton; close friends, Andre Barrows, Sage Torrence, and Betty Gayle and a host of relatives, co-workers, and friends.
Funeral arrangements were held private.
