19 Year Old Painter In Upcoming Art Show
A graduate from Xaverian High School and a student at Kingsborough College, Petagna has a knack for the arts. He has taken Spanish, Italian and French lessons, and he is currently learning Japanese on his own. He sings and plays the guitar every Thursday night at the RAA. And he even composes his own music. Petagna’s father, Ralph, has been instrumental in his son learning the arts and he is committed to combating the challenges that come with raising children like Matthew, who has Asperger’s Syndrome. Painting, according to Matthew’s father, is one of his son’s many artistic forays that click with his personality.
Guests can expect to see The Simpsons, Spongebob, Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers and other pop culture icons featured in Petagna’s 24 x 36 paintings on canvas at the RAA in Fort Tilden, sTudio 7 Gallery (building T 7). All proceeds from the collection will go to the Children’s Hormone Foundation and the Bridge to Youth organization. Interested participants are encouraged to call 718-474-0861 for more information about the art show.
