Rockaway Cadets 10 Sweep Forest Hills

After edging the Forest Hills Bombers 13-11 in their season opening game on Thursday, July 19, the Rockaway Cadets 10 returned to Forest Hills on Saturday, July 21 for a doubleheader rematch. The Cadets again prevailed, beating the Bombers 11-1 and 9-5. The Cadets now stand at 3-0 in the New York Travel Baseball Club American Division.

The first game was highlighted by the pitching of Brian MacDonald and the hitting of Thomas Resker. MacDonald pitched a complete game, needing just 53 pitches to get through five innings. Resker led the offense driving in four runs on a two-run single in the first and a two-run triple in the second. Daniel Green also had a standout offensive game as he collected three hits. MacDonald and Daniel Sumrall also scored two runs each. On defense, Colin Byrne flawlessly recorded three assists and Phil Benoit made two fine running catches in right field.

In the second game, the Cadets jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first three innings. James Resker hit a run scoring double in the third. Benoit pitched the first three innings for the win and Thomas Resker got the save.
