A former Far Rockaway resident has been put behind bars for the rest of his life after a Georgia state jury found him guilty in the 2008 fatal shooting of a TV videographer, according to published reports.

Eugene “Cash” Leslie, 29, originally from Far Rockaway, was convicted of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm during a crime and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, according to local news source, The Telegraph. Leslie was a known drug dealer in the area.

At the conclusion of the four-day trial, the jury deliberated for a little more than an hour before handing the judge the guilty verdicts in Houston County Superior Court.

The victim, Jason Wade, 32, was a local videographer for Georgia network WMAZ and allowed Leslie and his girlfriend to live with him. Tensions arose after Wade asked Leslie and his girlfriend to move out of the apartment, which led to the fatal shooting inside the apartment on August 28, 2008.

Leslie was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
