Cross Bay Bridge resident rebate has returned for the residents of Rockaway and Broad Channel. Cross Bay Bridge resident rebate has returned for the residents of Rockaway and Broad Channel. The final step to completely reinstating the Cross Bay Bridge toll rebate was for motorists to have their money fully refunded to their E-Z Pass accounts for tolls incurred from April 1 to June 15, the day the rebate officially went back into effect.

To the delight of Rockaway residents, many are starting to see that money appear in their E-Z Pass accounts.

The long-awaited resident rebate program, which was reinstated with the passing of the New York State budget, technically took effect on April 1. However, many were wondering why they were still being charged. According to the MTA, the rebate did take effect on April 1 but the changeover for each eligible E-Z Pass account could not take effect until June 15, for various technical and administrative reasons resulting in monies being refunded sometime in mid-July retroactive to April 1. In order for the rebate to stay intact the funding must be approved each year in the State’s budget.
