Sanders Honored At Child Care Graduation

Councilman James Sanders Jr. was honored at the Child Care Means Business 10th Anniversary graduation ceremony by the Business Outreach Center (BOC) Network on June 18. Blanche Community Daycare hosted the auspicious occasion. Sherrill Kratenstein, program director of the Child Care Means Business project, presented Sanders with a certificate of appreciation, on behalf of BOC, for his continued financial support of the child care training program. Blanche Community Daycare board of directors also received a certificate of appreciation from BOC for their commitment and dedication to the success of the program.

“We are so thankful for the backing of Councilman Sanders and the support of others in this room,” said Kratenstein, adding, “Quality home-based child care provides a stimulating, age-appropriate early learning environment for children, the foundation for their future success. It also offers entrepreneurs who love children a path to economic independence and self- sufficiency while providing a vital community service that enables parents to go to work or study and pursue their goals.”

Thirteen graduates received certificates for completing nine weeks and 45 hours of child care business training classes. Upon completion of the training these individuals are able to start or expand a home base child care business as licensed daycare providers. In addition to Councilman Sanders, the graduates also received citations of achievements from State Assemblywoman Michele Titus and Congressman Gregory Meeks, who was represented by Jessica Luina.

The BOC Network Child Care Business Development Project strives to offer services that will guide people at any stage of business ownership.
