Pink Socks Raise Money For Droesch
The Rockaway Little League is selling pink softball socks to raise money to help pay the medical costs for Clare Droesch, the former basketball star who is currently battling stage four breast cancer. The pink softball socks will be sold at the Rockaway Little League clubhouse in Fort Tilden. Socks are $12 for one pair and $20 for two pairs. Current Rockaway Little league teams in the Girls Minor Division (third to fifth grade) and Major Division (sixth to eighth grade) started wearing pink socks to highlight breast cancer awareness, and support Droesch in her fight. Droesch started her athletic career playing in the Rockaway Little League. According to RLL president Marty Andresen, she was the first girl to ever hit a home run over the fence in Fort Tilden. She then became an all-city basketball player at Christ the King and starred at Boston College. Photos by Ryan Schwach.
