Neponsit Adult Day Hosts ‘Senior Prom’
At the DSSM-Neponsit Adult Day Health Care Program, spring sprung on the scene at Beach 102 Street on May 9 when registrants and their families welcomed the season with the program’s annual “Senior Prom.”
The center was elegantly decorated with colorful flowers and butterflies. Prom King David Paller and his Queen, Madeline Harvey, with the help of Princess Luz Diaz, opened the celebration with the first dance, “I Could Have Danced All Night.” Steel band musician Devon and singer Athenia from DNA Entertainment provided the dance music. The event left everyone with a feeling of nostalgia as they danced the day away. Continuing the celebration of Older American Month, a production of “Broadway Show Stoppers” was presented by the “DSSM Neponsit ADHC Song Birds” on May 24. Eleven talented registrants, who included Madeline Harvey, David Paller, Debra Hill, Noelia Morales, Christine McCall, Clay Boyd, Nesta Wardchester, Tanya Morphis, Luz Diaz and Nancy Acevedo, presented hits such as “No Business like Show Business,” “Anything You Can Do,” “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” and “Give My Regards To Broadway.” They were led by Beth Gutman, Senior Activity Therapist. The DSSM Neponsit ADHC Cabaret Flappers featuring Jacquelin Cornwall, Program Director; Imelda Gargarita, RN; and Beth Gutman brought hysterical laughter with their comical dance rendition to songs from the roaring ’20s. The family oriented staff always goes beyond the call of duty to ensure the registrants enjoy each and every day of the year at the center.
