Join Friends For ‘Sunset In The Park’ 6/22


Each year “Friends of Tribute Park” hosts its fundraiser, “Sunset in the Park,” to raise money for the park’s maintenance and upkeep. Hi Lite Vibes, a steel pan trio, will perform reggae and contemporary classics. “Wine with Sue,” the popular Rockaway band, will also perform.

Firefighter John Burke, of Ladder 137 on Beach 116 Street, is a band member. “Because of Tribute Park’s significance to firefighters and all those affected by 9/11, it will be an honor to play at this event,“ says Burke.

“The F.D.N.Y. Emerald Society Pipe and Drum band will perform as the F.D.N.Y. Marine Unit provides their beautiful water boat display timed for sunset,“ says Nadia Murphy, the event chair.

Light fare will be provided by Ludwig’s Catering.

Advanced sales are strongly advised. Tickets can be purchased at Boarders Surf Shop, Brown’s Hardware, Harbor Light Restaurant, Nadia Murphy, Bernie Warnock or through the organization’s website, www.tributepark.org



On Friday, June 22, “Friends of Tribute Park” will host “Sunset in the Park.“ This annual fundraiser for the park which is a memorial to those from the Rockaways who died on September 11, 2001, as well as those 343 firefighters who died trying to save them, begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m. The rain date is Saturday, June 23. All proceeds from this popular community event go toward paying off the remaining construction debt as well as paying for ongoing maintenance of the park.
