Broad Channel Athletic Club Softball Wins

The Broad Channel Athletic St. Virgilius/St. Camillus Eighth Grade CYO Softball team continuted to splay an impressive start to the 2012 season by improving to a 5-1 record.

The team had previously went through 1-0 extra inning loss to Sacred Heart of Glendale.

The St. Virgilius/St. Camillus girls bounced back from that defeat to record two wins on the diamond.

On Saturday, May 19, the girls beat St. Pancras, 15-3, thanks to home runs recorded by Katie Corbett and Carolyn Crocker (who also had a triple). Haley Henry (3-4, 4 RBIs), Molly Day (2-4), and Amanda Clark (2-2) also had big days at the plate. St. Virgilius/St. Camillus also displayed strong defense throughout the game. The team also received good performances from Kaitlin Courtney and Erin Corbett, who also contributed to the win.

On Sunday, St. Virgilius/St. Camillus had a strong showing by defeatinf Good Shepherd, 12-0, thanks to a big hitting day from Ally Moynihan who was 3 for 3 with a triple, double and 6 RBIs.
