Male Shot On BCD,Van Or SUV Involved

Photo by Miriam Rosenberg. Police blocked off Beach Channel Drive between Beach 57 and Beach 58 Streets on May 24 after a 37-year-old male was shot as he stood on the sidewalk.

According to police reports the shooting took place at approximately 4:15 p.m. The victim was shot once in the chest. He was conscious and alert, but in critical condition, when he was transported to Jamaica Hospital by FDNY EMS. His wounds were not considered life threatening by attending physicians. Although details are still sketchy at press time, local sources are identifying the shooter as a driver of a dark green or black dollar van or SUV. Police did stop a van on Snake Road in the Five Towns, but it was determined to be the wrong vehicle. According to one source, the victim has not been cooperating with police. Detectives at the 101 Precinct are investigating.
