Breezy Bashing?

Dear Editor,

There is a Nationwide crisis involving underage drinking. It extends into drug abuse and sexual promiscuity among our Nation’s youth. The problem existed when I was in High School (probably before that), yet it seems to be getting worse, not better. In spite of the high profile media attention being given to address these issues, the problems remain.

A recent situation involving underage drinking in Breezy Point, is akin to many similar reports throughout the 5 Boroughs, and Long Island.

Our community in Breezy Point, does not, as a whole, condone, nor do we encourage this behavior. I find it unfair for The Wave to have interviewed one neighbor for a single OPINION. ONE PERSON out of an entire Community, to speak on behalf of the multiple families who are nothing close as to what was described in that interview.

Reading the “unsigned” Letter From a Breezy Point Shareholder, really threw me!!! Yes, a body did wash up onto our Bay, and that Body was removed, by the proper authorities, as is done whenever such an unfortunate event occurs on ANY beach.

To infer something sinister existed in a cover-up “conspiracy,“ shouts out to me as PARANOIA!

Does anyone believe in the year 2012, a Medical Examiner would be called into Breezy Point, to conduct an unethical investigation?

The NYPD deserves a bit more credit than was given. Breezy Point did not “whisk away” the young woman, who met a tragic death.

THAT was a Quantum Leap away from the problems we, along with every other Community, are facing with underage drinking.

Frankly, I applaud the parents, referenced in that letter, who took enough responsibility to make sure that their children did receive inhouse treatment, for an all too common problem. How was that “sweeping it under the carpet”?

Many of us living in Breezy Point have raised children who did/do not drink. I happen to be only one of that large number. As such, I resent what sadly has become a NATIONWIDE “norm,“ being used as a platform for Breezy Bashing. Feel free to publish my information.
