St. John’s Episcopal Hospital held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for the renovated Admitting Department on Tuesday, May 1. Nelson Toebbe, Chief Executive Officer, St. John’s, and Sheldon Genack, MD, Chief of Otolaryngology, St. John’s, both praised the Admitting Department staff for creating very good first impressions for patients being admitted to the Hospital.
The renovated area houses a number of departments – Admitting, preregistration, the financial department and presurgical testing. It will also soon include patient accounts on-site, so patients may discuss their hospital bills with a staff member, face-to-face.

The Admitting staff handles approximately 11,000 admissions a year. They also process an additional 10,000 registrations for Ambulatory Surgery, referred blood work and diagnostic testing.
