Susie Starks, a longtime Rockaway resident, died April 26.
Starks was born in Sparta, Georgia on August 30, 1930. She lived in Rockaway for more than 40 years and worked for a cleaning service. Starks was a member of First Church of God, Far Rockaway.
Starks was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Tom and Dorothy; and daughter, Patricia Ann Starks.
She is survived by her siblings, Pete, Arment, Roberta, Julia, Hervia, Sherman, Tom, Louise, Frank, Surena, Shirley, Dianne, Jack, Dwight and Joseph; daughters, Victoria Starks-Holloman and Joyce Starks; grandchildren, Quan Starks, Lamar Barnett, and Starr Starks; son-in-law, Joey Holloman; granddaughters-in-law, Marsha Barnett and Danyell Starks; great-grandchildren, Shalea, Lamar Jr., Jamah, Daryan, Skyasia and Malik; friends, Mary Haywwod, and Clara Gaither; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. A funeral mass took place at First Church of God, Far Rockaway. Interment followed at Pinelawn National Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York.
