Handsel George Kirnon
Handsel George Kirnon, a longtime Rockaway resident, died April 6.
Kirnon was born in Geralds, Montserrat on March 29, 1946. He lived in Rockaway for more than 10 years while working as a veteran’s hospital supervisor. Kirnon served in the U. S. Army as a Sergeant in the Vietnam War under the 101st Airborne Division “Screaming Eagles.” He was also a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church for more than 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; children, Elvis, Valencia, Andre, Antoine and Darius; grandchildren, Dejur and Soleil; daughter-in-law, Renee; sisters, Margaret, Edna, Daisy, Rosalind and Edith; brothers, Charles, Robert, David and Maudel; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends, coworkers and St. Peter’s church family; and his fraternal brothers, Joe, Blues and Dickey.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. A funeral mass took place at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Rosedale, New York. Interment followed at Palm Royale Cemetery, Naples, Florida.
