Towing In Far Rockaway

Dear Editor,

The parking lot in downtown Far Rockaway at the Mott Avenue train station has seen a lot of towing by B&M towing. It seems that this parking lot, which has the Capital One bank, the Thriftway drugstore and a couple of other businesses, is owned by a woman who has decided to allow this towing company, which is on Almeda Avenue and Beach 69 Street, to tow the cars there in the lot, whether parked illegally or not. There is a spotter who waits for persons, who are doing business in one of the stores on the lot, to park and exit their vehicle and then put the car on the hook.

Instead of taking the car, the driver waits for the person to return, and for $130-150 will then release the auto.

It has been said by a couple of persons that the driver has pulled a weapon (gun) on those who dare to oppose this practice.

I am writing to you in the hopes that someone can investigate this absurdity and that the council person(s) can then take action and hopefully stop this and put this towing company out of business before someone gets hurt.

GWEN DAVIS
