Cut The Ribbon For New Ryan Visitor Center

The National Park Service took another step closer to making Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn the centerpiece of its renovated Gateway National Recreation Area last weekend with a two-day ceremony for the reopening of the Ryan Visitor Center, once the air terminal and control tower of the city’s first municipal airport and, later, its Naval Air Station. Pictured, dignitaries cut the ribbon. They are, from left, New York City Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe; Congressman Bob Turner, a Breezy Point resident; Superintendent Linda Canzanelli; and parks official Lincoln Hallowell.
