The Rockaway Civic Association and the New York Restoration Project hosted a tree giveaway on Saturday morning, April 28, at the Belle Harbor Yacht Club.

A hundred trees were given to Rockaway residents and other residents of New York City to be planted in their front or back yards. The trees were: Montmorency Sour Cherry Trees, Ginkgo Trees, Autumn Brilliance Serviceberry Trees, and Kousa Dogwood Trees.

Michael Yoken from the New York Restoration Project gave recipients instructions on how to plant and care for the trees and eight volunteers from St. John’s Residence helped with the Tree Giveaway by helping recipients to their vehicles with their new trees.
