HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SEAN FARREL from his friends at Kennedy’s Bar: Mike Sommerville, Danny Kennell, Ryan Wilson and Chris Hendry. They noted that Sean proposed to his long time girlfriend, Samantha Ritter. May they have a beautiful lifetime together. These young men also made a complaint that there are too many bikers on Oceanside. Something should be done about this.

In Kennedy’s dining area, Emanuel United Church celebrated 135 years with an anniversary luncheon with its members. Pastor Delores Rosato and Eric Ackerman were there and offered words of enlightenment. All enjoyed.

Condolences to the families of Kay McGoorty who died at the age of 80 on April 8, and Peggy Hurley on April 7.. They were well loved by the community and they well be greatly missed.

The Breezy Point Surf Shop is now open 7 days a week and Donald Ritter, the owner, has all new summer wear from dresses to tees to shorts, bathing suits, flip flops, and kayaks and paddle boards. You not only save on gas and mileage, but on convenience as well. You can’t beat Surfing the Shop.

Say a few prayers for Patty Crowley. She fell on her front cement steps and ended up with many stitches in her head and was transported to St. John’s Hospital. (So far away. It is tragic that Peninsula Hospital folded. How could we let that happen???). Patty is recovering from her cuts and bruises and is thankful it wasn’t worse. Her sister Karen and friend, Nick, who saw Jersey Boys and raved about it, paid Patty a visit and said she is coming along, but needs rest.

IT’S A BIRD! IT’S A PLANE! IT’S A FLYING CAR! It was at the Auto Show at the Javit’s Center. Terrafugia Inc. developed the “Roadable Aircraft” which makes its debut this year. I thought this would be fine for getting out of traffic. Oh, no! You have to go to the airport first and unfold the wings before you can take off. It is the first street legal airplane is the world. What next???

The International Beauty Show at the Javit’s Center featured laser lifts, Japanese nail art and Hydropeptide. It is sparkle glitz and shine everywhere. Gadgets and procedures galore. If you don’t want to look your age and have the money, you can certainly look 20 years younger. Otherwise, you can spend it on a college education for your grandchildren. They will certainly think you are beautiful for doing that. You can have botox to erase your wrinkles, but it can erase all expression in your face. Have you seen people like this? It is like talking to a statue. You can stay out of the sun and get your tan by machine by 14 Karat Spray Tan. It needs 8 hours to set and then shower and show off your tan. It is a world of beauty in the making

At the Greek wine tasting I tried octopus for the first time and that was good. Their wines were very full bodied and strong. You may want to travel to Greece to taste them from their own vineyards. At the ALB Design Center on 23rd Street I attended a seminar given by Mario Buatta dubbed the Prince of Chintz in 1984. Mr. Butta has been selected by Architectural Digest and Metropolitan Home and by Town and Country as one of the 12 top Designers of America. His clients include Barbara Walters, Mariah Carey, Malcolm Forbes and Henry Ford. His impeccable designs can also be viewed at the magnificent Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Museum Galleries, the Blair House and wonderful homes throughout the world. He showed slides of his beautiful and impressive works.

Anguilla, a tiny little island in the Caribbean, just a 45 minute ferry ride from St. Martin, invited media and agents to a rum party where they had an open bar, island music, and island mixologists concocting their own specials drinks for prize awards. A summer trip to Anguilla at Cap Juluca, 5nt pkg. $396.

Let me tell about Abruzzo located in central Italy. You can swim at their beautiful beaches and in winter ski on their majestic peaks. A great many woods and mountains with unique wild life, wine and delicacies, and outdoor activities. The Fox and the Child, award winning documentary, was filmed in Abruzzo’s National Park. This may appeal to you for your next vacation..
