Swimming For A Cause

By Debbie Fleury

The Swim Strong Foundation has a mission to save lives by preventing drowning, combating childhood obesity and transforming our lives by teaching methods of living that can be applied in and out of the pool. Saturday, April 21, they are hosting a swimming event at Flushing Meadows Aquatic Center.

Last year, 79 children participated in the Swim Strong Foundation’s swimming programs for free thanks to scholarships. And next year, Swim Strong hopes to boost their number of scholarships.

Registration forms are available by email request at: Shawn.Slevin@theswimstrongfoundation.org. Tickets for the swimmers are only $5 per event and spectators are asked to donate $10 for attending. All those who wish to come to the fundraiser are expected to be at the aquatic center at 8 a.m. The competition will involve youths from age 6-18. And all proceeds from the event will support the Swim Strong Foundation’s aim to save lives.
