JASA Celebrates Re-Opening
“What a day to celebrate!” said one participant. On March 16, the Jewish Association Serving the Aging (JASA) hosted more than 100 individuals at the Seagirt Housing’s event in Far Rockaway. The event celebrated the re-opening of the Community Room and completion of $1 million in upgrades and modernization in apartments and common areas.
Exciting activities included singing, jazz music, delicious hors d’oeuvres, a raffle and dancing. It was gratifying for the staff to see residents “decked out in their finest,” and smiling and to hear them express, in amazement, “This is a beautiful event. The room is gorgeous! Thank you!” This celebration exemplifies JASA’s core message of “staying alive for as long as we live.”
There were also presentations by Assemblyman Phillip Goldfeder from the 23rd District and Council Member James Sanders, Jr. from the 31st District.
