Scoop It Up!

Dear Editor,

I have a problem and I hope the wonderful people of Broad Channel can help. The problem I’m referring to: pedestrians who walk their dogs and don’t scoop up the droppings.

It’s not okay to have to tell your children to watch where they’re going on Crossbay Boulevard. The weather is getting warmer and more people are out. So dog owners – please pick up after your dogs! The neighborhood’s getting really disgusting.

As a responsible dog owner, I

As a responsible dog owner, I wholeheartedly agree with the letter. If all who owned pooches minded their dogs, the city would be a much better place to walk around and live in. Whatever it is; selfishness, laziness, ignorance or stupidity, rude dog owners should be found out and fined. I'm sure genetic testing is coming, they do this in Israel. Can't happen soon enough for me. Thing is inspectors rarely get out here. The last time officers took this into their hands, they roughed up a woman and let her dog run loose after they wrongfully arrested her. I doubt much will change for as we all know the only creature that could give a pig a run for it's money--in terms of filth--is man.
