Bring LIPA Customer Service To Rockaway

Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder sent a letter to the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) requesting that they provide an update on the status of a proposed Rockaway customer service location.

In the letter, he also asked LIPA to consider expediting the opening of the new location in order to better serve Rockaway families.

“All too often, we’re faced with downed power lines and outages because of where we live,” Goldfeder said. “With the closest location being in Nassau County, nearly 30 minutes away, it makes it difficult and inconvenient to get a hold of the power company when we need it most.”

LIPA has indicated for years that it intends to open an office in Rockaway. Unfortunately, they have yet to show any real progress, Goldfeder noted.

“This new location would bring huge benefits to Rockaway families,” the Assemblyman said. “By opening a location closer to our community, LIPA would be able to better serve us and we would have easier access to its facility.”
