The 23-year old Williams defeated Nashon Bryant on Monday, March 12 in the semifinals of the 201-pound heavyweight open class. The semifinal fight was held at the La Boom Club in Woodside.

The defending 201-pound open class champion recorded the Empire City Casino Punch of the Night for landing a powerful body shot on Bryant during the fight.

Williams rattled his opponent for most of the night until Bryant was disqualified for excessive holding.

Williams will fight in the finals of the Golden Gloves which will be held on Thursday, March 29 or Friday, March 29 at the Theater At Madison Square Garden.

He had previously won the 201- pound novice class championship in his first attempt in 2009.

It was a bounceback victory for Williams, who had previously lost in the U.S. Olympic boxing trials on February 29 to Antwon Abron in Colorado Springs.

Mack Williams will take on Max Tassy in the Golden Gloves finals. Tassy defeated Mark Sinatra in a 5-0 unanimous decision.
