During the indoor track season, he was the individual winner of the 800- meter (1/2 mile) run at the MAAC Conference Championship meet with a time of 1:52.53. Three weeks later at the IC4A Championship Meet, D’Emic posted a personal-best of 1:50.97 in the 800- meter semi-final to qualify for the final of the event. In the final, he posted a time of 1:52.22, good enough for sixth place overall out of the 40 entrants in the event. Finishing as one of the top 6 runners also earned D’Emic “East Coast All American” honors. A senior in Manhattan College’s renowned Civil Engineering Program, D’Emic looks forward to defending his MAAC 800-meter title in the outdoor season and having the opportunity to compete in 2012-13 with his two remaining medical red-shirt seasons.
On top of all of these accomplishments on the track, D’Emic looks forward to the summer when he can participate in another Engineering-related internship program and do some training with local track and field guru John Edwards. Said a Breezy Point resident, “It is these individuals like Kevin in the community that should be admired and recognized for their commitment to goal-setting and success as they matriculate through college. All of Breezy Point looks forward to watching D’Emic continue to represent our community with class as he finishes up his collegiate running career.”
