Hugh J. Flood


Hugh J. Flood, a former Rockaway resident, died February 26.

Flood was born in Manhattan, New York. He worked as a dispatcher for the New York City Transit Authority. Flood was a longtime Rockaway resident and lifelong summer resident.

Flood was preceded in death by his wife, Sheila (nee Bradley) and son, Michael.

He is survived by his sons, Thomas M. (Dede), Neil (Aileen), Patrick (Kathleen), Hughie (Kelly) and Timothy (Elizabeth); daughters, Kathleen Smith, Sheila Roohan (Richard), Margaret Callahan (Edward) and Mary Roohan (Peter); daughter-in-law, Rita; 28 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren .

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Rockaway Beach. A funeral mass took place at St. Camillus Church, Rockaway Park. Interment followed at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York.
