Making Waves

Commentary By Jane Deacy Republican District Leader

Jane Deacy Jane Deacy As I write this article on Tuesday, Super Tuesday is happening with the Presidential Primary taking place in Ohio, Georgia, Massachusetts, Vermont, Virginia, Oklahoma and Tennessee as well as caucuses taking place in Idaho, Alaska and North Dakota. Perhaps by the time this paper goes to print, there will be a better picture as to who will eventually become the Republican Candidate for President in the November election against Barack Obama. Please note that the NY Republican Presidential Primary will take place on April 24, 2012 and although we Republicans are outnumbered in our district, your vote is very necessary to help decide who will run on the November ballot so please mark your calendars now. All registered Republicans are to cast their vote for Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney or Rick Santorum. All registered

Republicans are invited to attend the Rockaway Republican Club meeting to be held on March 12, 2012 at 8 p.m. at the Belle Harbor Yacht Club, where representatives from the different candidates have been invited to speak to the membership in the hopes of garnering their support and votes on April 24. You need not be a member of the RR Club to attend and are most welcome so if you are undecided regarding for whom you are voting, please make it a point to attend.

We are entering the political season now and one need only take a look at last week’s front page cover story by Daniel Solomon to realize that Congressman Bob Turner will not only have to do his job to the best of his ability, which he is doing admirably, but he will have to defend himself against misinformed liberals like young Daniel Solomon, who chose to distort the facts to their likings in the hopes that the good people of the 9th CD will believe that Bob Turner has an alternative motive for wanting to run again. I do question why the Wave editor felt that Daniel Sol-omon’s article deserved front page place-ment and can only surmise that the staff of The Wave agree with his positions. I can only hope that The Wave will give equal print to opposing views,

Daniel Solomon’s disdainful article about Republican Congressman Bob Turner is no surprise. As a teenaged bleeding heart liberal, who was recently accepted into Harvard University, his brashly arrogant commentary is to be expected. What is shameful is that The Wave would actually publish such a disparaging article that is so out of sync with the Rockaway community.

Calling Turner ideologically unsuitable for the district is an insult to the voters of the Rockaway area who overwhelmingly support Bob Turner.

Solomon’s longing for the “vigor” of Congressman Anthony Weiner certainly left me speechless and certainly laughing. I for one was very glad to see him go. I appreciate that we had a candidate in Bob Turner, who as a successful businessman, as well as a successful investor, brings his firsthand knowledge and track record of commitments and family, along with his military service.

Turner has worked tirelessly since day one to serve his constituents, help small businesses and protect our liberties. The fact that the liberal media chooses not to cover that there have been thirty (30) pro-business bills that have passed the Republican House that Bob Turner supports and that have been totally ignored (as in not even brought up for a vote) by the Democratic controlled Senate, should not and does not come as a surprise to me, nor should it come as a surprise to you.

To suggest that Turner is a “do nothing Congressman” is patently false however we must realize from where it comes.

As a businessman, a patriot, a husband, father, and grandfather, Bob Turner has been entrusted by the constituents of the 9th CD to make decisions in the best interest for them. Those issues include hydrofracking, Keystone Pipeline, Obamacare and I am confident that he is educating himself in order to do so.

He has a track record of making good decisions throughout his life. He has a desire to make sure that the world is a better place for his grandchildren and all of us to live in.

Try as many will to further discredit him, I have no doubt that the people of the Rockaways will once again prove that Bob Turner is a man to be trusted and is very much in sync with the community he represents.

Once again, the Presidential Republican Primary is to be held on April 24 so please mark your calendar. We will then move into the political calendar preparing for contests in the State Senate, State Assembly, US Congress as well as President in November. And one last thought, Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
